Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) FAQs
 

What categories of foreign vehicles are required to registered VEP?
All categories vehicles covering private vehicles (owned by individual or organisation), commercial vehicle and embassy / government owned vehicles that wish to enter Malaysia are required to register for VEP.

 

 


When and how to register for VEP?
With effect from 15 August 2015, owners (or representatives) of foreign registered vehicles are advised to register for VEP online via Road Transport Department of Malaysia (RTD) official website at www.jpj.gov.my before entering Malaysia.

What category of foreign vehicles are required to register for VEP?
All categories of vehicles covering private vehicles (owned by individual or organisation), commercial vehicles and embassy / government owned vehicles that wish to enter Malaysia are required to register for VEP.

When and how to register for VEP?

What is the validity period of the VEP?
You must renew your VEP every five (5) years. You must do so 3 months before the expiry date. A new VEP tag will be issued.

Road Charge (RC) FAQs

What categories of foreign vehicles are subjected to Road Charge?
Only private vehicles (both individual and company owned) are subjected to road charge. Motorcycles, Commercial, Government and Diplomat vehicles are exempted.

How to pay for the Road Charge?
At this moment, you can only use Touch N' Go card to pay road charge.

How much is the Road Charge?
The road charge is Ringgit Malaysia (MYR) 20.00 for every entry into Malaysia.

What is the Road Charge rate base on (upon distance, number of days etc.)?
The road charge is based on per entry into Malaysia.

Is Road Charge waived on certain days?
No, road charge applies each time you enter Malaysia by land throughout the year. However, motorcycles, commercial and Government / Diplomat vehicles are exempted.

Is Road Charge part of toll?
No, road charge is not a toll fee. It is governed by the Road Transport Act 1987.
