Before deciding to purchase a new license plate, it is important to be aware of all the crucial aspects related to buying license plates online. For those purchasing a license plate for the first time, here is a guide on how to buy JPJ license plates online:

Buying License Plates - Current Plate Categories

The available license plates for bidding are divided into several categories:

Golden Numbers
Single-digit license plates such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on. Prices for a single-digit license plate start from a minimum of RM20,000 and can reach tens of thousands of ringgit based on demand.

Premium Numbers
Two-digit license plates, such as 10, 18, 44, 88, 99, etc. Prices for two-digit license plates start from RM5,000 and can go up to tens of thousands of ringgit, depending on demand.

Attractive Numbers
License plates with repeating numbers, such as 111, 444, 888, 777, 9999, etc. Prices for these plates start at a minimum of RM2,500 and can go higher depending on demand.

Popular Numbers
License plates with commonly sought-after sequences, such as 121, 2121, 515, 8989, 9988, etc. Prices for these three- or four-digit license plates start at a minimum of RM500 and can go higher depending on demand.

Running Numbers
Standard license plates that do not fall under the "Golden," "Premium," "Attractive," or "Popular" categories. Prices for these three- or four-digit license plates start at a minimum of RM300 and can go higher depending on demand.

License Plate Pricing for Vehicle Registration Reservation

Each reserved license plate is subject to a minimum price and a required bid increment, as follows:

The minimum bid increase is 5% of the starting price. (10% in the last 30 minutes before bid closing)

There is no maximum limit for bid increases.

Payment Methods for Purchasing License Plates

Payments for license plate bidding can only be made using local credit cards or debit cards. Bidders can use multiple credit or debit cards to place additional bids.

Refund Policy

If a bid is successful, the bid amount will be immediately deducted from the bidder’s credit or debit card. If a bid is unsuccessful, the transaction will be canceled by the bank.

The Refund Process

Credit card refunds are processed within seven (7) working days. Debit card refunds may take up to fourteen (14) working days, depending on the issuing bank.

Successful Vehicle Number Plate Registration Process

The deadline for registering a won vehicle number plate is 12 months from the date of the Offer Letter issuance. Successful bidders or their representatives must visit a JPJ branch and bring the following documents:

- Printout of the Successful Bidding Decision Email

- Copy of identification card or company identification

Name Transfer Policy

The won vehicle registration number can be transferred to immediate family members (mother, father, spouse, siblings, or children). Required supporting documents include birth certificates, marriage certificates, and other relevant paperwork.

Transfers involving companies, organizations, or cooperatives are NOT allowed.
